  • An 8.5 square inch sponge cake
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup black coffee
  • 1.5 cups curd cheese (chilled)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1.5 cups maida
  • 1.5 cups light rum or cognac (optional)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 2 tsps vanilla
  • 2-3 tbsps cocoa

How to Make Special Tiramisu

  • Cut the sponge cake into thin slices.
  • Mix 1.5 cups of milk with maida.
  • Mix the remaining of the milk with sugar and place on fire. Stir till sugar dissolves.
  • When the milk starts boiling, remove from fire.
  • Beat the yolks with vanilla. Mix in the remaining milk and maida.
  • Pour about 1.5 cups of the hot milk gradually into the yolk mixture, stirring all the time.
  • Pour it into remaining hot milk and place on slow flame.
  • Cook stirring till the mixture comes to a boil. Simmer gently for 2 more mins.
  • Remove from fire and gradually beat in the butter (you can add rum).
  • Cool and chill in the fridge (Place a plastic sheet on top of the custard to prevent skin from forming).
  • Beat in the curd cheese.
  • Cut the cake into thin slices.
  • Place 1/3 of cake slices at the base of a pudding dish.
  • Add enough coffee on top to generously soak the cake.
  • Spread 1/3 filling over it. Repeat the layers, ending with custard.
  • Chill in the fridge.
  • Just before serving, sprinkle cocoa on top.
