  • 2 cups - Bottle gourd chunks
  • 4- Dry red chillies
  • 1 tbsp - Urad dal
  • 2 tbsp - Grated coconut
  • 1 spoon- Tamarind paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp - Mustard seeds
  • 5-10 - Curry leaves
  • Oil.

How to Make Spicy Bottle gourd Chutney

  • Heat oil in a pan and saute the urad dal and dry red chillies until golden brown. Keep aside.
  • Now saute the bottle gourd chunks in the same pan for 3-5 mins.
  • Then dry roast the grated coconut and keep aside.
  • Now grind the cooked bottle gourd, roasted coconut, tamarind, fried urad dal, salt and red chillies in a mixie into a coarse paste.
  • Then heat the remaining oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds and saute the curry leaves. Pour this over the ground paste.
  • Serve as a side dish.
