  • 3 cups - Wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp - Active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp - Olive oil for frying and 1/4 tsp for brushing
  • 1 tsp - Dry basil leaves
  • 1 tsp - Flax seeds
  • 1 tsp - Nigella seeds
  • 1 tsp - Salt
  • 1 tsp - Sugar
  • 1 cup - Beetroot puree (luke warm)
  • For the vegetable filling:
  • 1- Onion chopped
  • 2- Potatoes(big and chopped)
  • 2- Carrots (chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp - Mustard seeds, cumin seeds
  • 2- Green chillies (chopped)
  • 2- tsp - Coriander leaves (chopped)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil
  • 1/4 cup - Grated cheese.

How to Make Spicy Cheesy Stuffed Beets Swirl Bread

  • For the filling:
  • Mix the lukewarm beets puree, the yeast, salt and sugar and keep aside until it turns foamy.
  • Now combine the flour, oil, dry basil leaves in a large bowl and add the foamy yeast-beets puree to the flour and knead into a dough.
  • Keep the dough in a warm place and let it rest for 1 hour.
  • Then heat oil in a kadai and splutter the mustard and cumin seeds. Add the chopped onion to it and saute until brown.
  • Now add the chopped green chillies, the potatoes, carrot pieces to the onions with salt and cook until the vegetables soften. Add the chopped coriander leaves and remove from the stove. Let it cool.
  • For the loaf:
  • Roll out the dough into a thick square.
  • Now spread the filling, sprinkle the grated cheese and roll it into a loaf.
  • Place in a greased loaf pan and put the dough in a warm place until it doubles in volume.
  • Mean while preheat the oven to 350 F.
  • Now brush the doubled dough with olive oil, sprinkle with the flax seeds and nigella seeds.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crust turns firm.
  • Remove from the oven and keep aside for 5 mins.
  • Serve warm.
