Ingredients

  • 2 cups - channa dal (besan)
  • Salt to taste
  • Tomato puree (2 medium size tomatoes)
  • 1 - medium size onion
  • 2 - green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric

How to Make Spicy Tomato Omelette

  • To make the batter:
  • Mix the besan with water to make it a thin batter. Remove all lumps.
  • Chop the tomatoes and onions into small pieces. Mix with the batter.
  • Chop the green chillies and add to batter.
  • Add turmeric, chilli powder and salt to taste.
  • Add water if mixture is not thi and mix well, slightly crushing the tomatoes.
  • To make omelettes:
  • Heat pan on medium heat and pour 1/2 tsp of oil into it. Spread it evenly.
  • Pour 1/2 cup (put more for thicker ones) of batter with the help of cup / ladle (like dosas) onto the pan.
  • Cover with lid and cook on low flame for about 5 mins.
  • Flip the omelette over, pour 1/2 tsp oil from sides and cook.
