Ingredients

  • Finely chopped Tomatoes - 250 gm
  • Finely chopped Onions - 150 gm
  • Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Hing - 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Small piece Jaggery (optional)
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Cooking Oil - 2-3 tbsp
  • How to Make Spicy Tomato Thokku:

    1. Pour 1 tbsp oil in a heavy bottom vessel. Add mustard seeds.
    2. When they splutter, add the finely chopped onions and hing.
    3. Fry onions till they become brown and translucent.
    4. Add tomatoes along with the rest of the ingredients except the cooking oil.
    5. Cook till the mixture becomes thick, then add the rest of the cooking oil.
    6. When it leaves the sides of the pan, remove from flame.
