  • Finely chopped tomatoes - 250 gm
  • Finely chopped onions - 150 gm
  • Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Hing - 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Small piece jaggery (optional)
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Cooking Oil - 2-3 tbsp

How to Make Spicy Tomato Thokku

  • Pour 1 tbsp oil in a heavy bottom vessel. Add mustard seeds.
  • When they splutter, add the finely chopped onions and hing.
  • Fry onions till they become brown and translucent.
  • Add tomatoes along with the rest of the ingredients except the cooking oil.
  • Cook till the mixture becomes thick, then add the rest of the cooking oil.
  • When it leaves the sides of the pan, remove from flame.
