Ingredients

  • 3 - eggs, separated
  • 4 tbsps - mixed chopped nuts
  • 1/4 cup - each of refined flour and sugar
  • 1/2 tsp - baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp - essence of vanilla

How to Make Steamed Cakes

  • Beat the yolks till thick. Add sugar and continue beating till light and foamy.
  • Beat the whites till stiff and mix into the yolks nicely.
  • Sift the flour and baking powder thrice. Mix into the eggs. Mix in essence and nuts.
  • Grease 12 custard cups with butter.
  • Fill each cup about half full with batter.
  • If you like, you can garnish the top with few nuts.
  • Place the containers using either pan cover or foil.
  • Bake in a pre-heated mode oven for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. Serve hot.
