  • 6 to 8 slices - hilsa fish
  • 1.5 tbsps - Mustard Seeds
  • 2 to 3 - Green chillies
  • 1/4 - grated Coconut
  • pinch - Turmeric
  • Mustard oil for frying
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Steamed Hilsa:

    1. Grind mustard seeds, green chillies, coconut and salt.
    2. Mix this paste with mustard oil and turmeric.
    3. Rub the paste over the fish slices.
    4. Put the fish in a greased dish, cover and cook over steam (this can also be done in a pressure cooker).
    5. Steam until mustard gives off a sharp aroma.
    6. Remove and sprinkle with chopped coriander and serve with hot rice.
