Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 150 gms - Sugar
  • 150 gms - all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp - coarsely chopped Walnuts
  • 2 tbsp - coarsely chopped Dates

How to Make Steamed sponge cakes

  • Whip eggs until frothy. Add half of the sugar and whip again until fluffy.
  • Add the remaining sugar and whip for 10 minutes.
  • Sift flour and fold into egg mixture.
  • Grease a 9-inch (22 cm) square pan and fold in half of the batter.
  • Sprinkle over with half of the walnuts, dates, and pour the rest of the batter over this layer.
  • Sprinkle over with the remaining walnuts and dates.
  • Steam for 20 minutes over high heat. Cut into small squares to serve.
