Stuffed pomfret fry, as the name suggests, is a fish fry recipe made with stuffed pomfret fish. The recipe is loved by non-vegetarian foodies and especially the fish lovers. It is mostly served in the coastal areas as a side dish and loved for its spicy and tangy taste.

The slits on the pomfret will ensure that the masala reaches inside the fish. White wine vinegar, tamarind and some shredded coconut will enhance the flavor further.


  • 2 - medium-sized Pomfret
  • 2 tbsp - Coconut oil
  • Ingredients for stuffing:
  • 6 tsp - Kashmir chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1.5 tsp - Coriander seeds
  • 3 - Cloves
  • 10 - black pepper Corns
  • 3/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 9 Cloves of garlic, peeled
  • 1 inch - slice of fresh ginger, peeled
  • 1 inch piece of Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp - Tamarind paste
  • 3/4 tsp - Sugar
  • 1/3 cup - white wine Vinegar
  • 3 tbsp - shredded Coconut
  • Salt, to taste
  • How to Make Stuffed Pomfret fry:

    1. Make slits on the fish with a knife.
    2. Prepare the filling masala by mixing all the ingredients listed.
    3. Fill this inside every slit in the fish.
    4. Deep Fried the fish in hot oil, on medium fire till golden brown.
    5. Serve hot with rice and dal.
