Ingredients

  • 2 lbs - lamb meat, cut into thin 1/2 inch slices (or you can use any other meat according to your choice)
  • For marinade:
  • 1 cup - onion, chopped
  • 3 - cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 - ginger root, minced
  • 1/2 tbsp - chilli paste (more if desired)
  • 1 cup - yogurt
  • 2 tbsps - soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp - brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp - cumin
  • 1 tbsp -coriander
  • 1 tsp - turmeric
  • 1 tbsp - ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup - green onion

How to Make Sukuti (Meat Jerky)

  • Combine all the marinating ingredients to form marinade. Pour marinade over the lamb slices. Allow marinating for at least 6-8 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Heat up the oven by setting temperature at 150-200 degrees F.
  • Place an aluminium foil on the bottom of oven tray. Leave some space between the slices.
  • Allow drying for about 6-8 hours, frequently turning the slices, until the meat is dry and crisp in texture.
  • Serve as an appetizer with dip or stir-fried with vegetables.
