Ingredients

  • 300 g - Surakkai (bottle gourd)
  • 2 cups - Idle Rice
  • 1/2 cup - Toor Dal
  • 1/4 cup - Moong dal
  • 3-4 - Red Chillies
  • 3-4 - Cloves of Garlic
  • 1/2 tsp - Asafoetida
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • Salt
  • 2-3 - Onions
  • Curry leaves
  • How to Make Surakkai Rice Adai:

    1. Soak rice and dal for 2-3 hours.
    2. Grate and grind the bottle gourd.
    3. Add the soaked rice, dal, red chilli, salt, large cumin seeds, garlic and grind coarsely.
    4. Season with mustard seeds, urad dal, asafoetida, curry leaves and onions.
    5. This can be made into dosa-like adais. No fermentation is required.
    6. Pour out a ladleful and spread out like dosas.
    7. Serve with sambhar and chutney.
