  • 1/2 cup - semolina (rava)
  • 1/2 cup - Urad Dal
  • 1/2 cup - finely grated Coconut
  • 4 tbsp - finely grated Jaggery
  • big pinch of cooking soda
  • big pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp - Cardamom powder
  • few Cashewnuts and raisins, sliced finely.
  • 1 cup - Milk
  • 1 tsp - Ghee
  • How to Make Sweet Rava Idly with Jaggery:

    1. Soak dal in water for about 4 hours.
    2. Drain out the water and grind to a fine paste. Set aside for 4 hours.
    3. Roast semolina on a dry pan till it starts changing colour.
    4. Mix with dal along with salt and soda.
    5. Add enough milk to form a thick and smooth batter.
    6. Mix in 1 tsp of ghee.
    7. To make the filling, mix together cardamoms, coconut, jaggery, cashewnuts and raisins.
    8. Pour a little batter into greased idle moulds. Put 1 tsp of the filling on the batter and cover it up with some more batter.
    9. Steam for 15 mins.
    10. Serve hot with ghee.
