How to Make Sweet Rava Idly with Jaggery

  • Soak dal in water for about 4 hours.
  • Drain out the water and grind to a fine paste. Set aside for 4 hours.
  • Roast semolina on a dry pan till it starts changing colour.
  • Mix with dal along with salt and soda.
  • Add enough milk to form a thick and smooth batter.
  • Mix in 1 tsp of ghee.
  • To make the filling, mix together cardamoms, coconut, jaggery, cashewnuts and raisins.
  • Pour a little batter into greased idle moulds. Put 1 tsp of the filling on the batter and cover it up with some more batter.
  • Steam for 15 mins.
  • Serve hot with ghee.
