Ingredients

  • 2 cup - Toor Dal
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric
  • Salt as per taste
  • For tadka:
  • 1 - tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 - onion, finely chopped
  • 3 or 4 - green chillies, finely chopped
  • 2 - Red Chilli
  • 2 tsp - Ghee
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • A pinch - Asafoetida
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 2 pods - Garlic
  • Coriander leaves - a few sprigs
  • How to Make Tasty Dal Tadka:

    1. Pressure cook the dal with turmeric and salt .
    2. The dal should not be mushy
    3. Take a non stick vessel and add ghee, cumin seeds and red chilli
    4. After the seeds splutter add asafoetida
    5. Then add the onion and fry till it turns brown
    6. Then add green chillies and garlic and fry them for a minute.
    7. Add chilly powder and then tomato, cook for sometime.
    8. Add the cooked dal, fry for 4 to 5 mins
    9. Garnish with coriander leaves.
    10. Serve it with rotis/rice.
