  • 275 g - white bread flour
  • 1 tsp - dried Yeast
  • 2 tbsp - Olive oil
  • 25 g - parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp - Sugar
  • 1 tsp - salt
  • 2 tbsp - Tomato puree
  • 175 ml - warm water
  • 1 tbsp - Basil leaves
  • How to Make Tomato and Basil Bread:

    1. Combine the water, tomato puree and olive oil.
    2. In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar and salt.
    3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, along with basil.
    4. Knead it to form a smooth dough.
    5. Cover the bowl and leave it to rise in a warm place, for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
    6. When the dough has raised, knock the air back, sprinkle the cheese on top.
    7. Knead the dough on the surface, until the cheese is incorporated and the dough is smooth and elastic.
    8. Shape the dough into a large round and put on the baking sheet.
    9. Cover with a clean towel and allow it to rise, for about 35 minutes.
    10. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 230 degree Celsius.
    11. Using a sharp knife, cut a large cross on top of the loaf.
    12. Bake in the oven, for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden and base sounds hollow when tapped.
    13. Turn it onto a wire rack to cool.
    14. Serve the bread with Italian salad and cheese.
