Ingredients

  • Tomatoes - 3
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida - 1 pinch
  • Garlic - 5
  • Curry leaves - 2 stalks
  • Tamarind - marble sized
  • Salt - to taste
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 4 tsp

How to Make Tomato Chutney (Sauteed)

  • Heat oil, add asafoetida, then add chopped tomatoes and saute till it comes to a pulp consistency. Allow to cool a bit.
  • Add the chilli powder, garlic, tamarind, a stalk curry leaves and salt and grind to a smooth paste.
  • Heat oil, add mustard and allow to splutter. Then add the remaining curry leaves and the ground paste.
  • Mix well and cook till oil starts leaving the mixture.
  • Store when cool.
