  • 1 kg - broiler Chicken (cut into medium sized pieces)
  • 1 packet Tomato puree
  • 2.5 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seed powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp - Red Chilli powder (or as per taste)
  • 1 to 2 tbsp - any good Chicken masala (readymade)
  • 5 to 6 tbsp - oil
  • finely chopped Coriander leaves (to garnish)
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Traditional Tomato Chicken:

    1. Clean and wash the chicken. In a bowl mix together tomato puree, powdered spices, chicken masala and salt.
    2. Marinate the chicken in the tomato mixture for an hour or so.
    3. Heat oil in a kadai, add the marinated chicken and mix well.
    4. Saute on a low flame for few minutes.
    5. Add little water and cook on a low flame covered with a lid having water on it.
    6. Mix at regular intervals.
    7. Cook till the chicken is tender and garnish with coriander leaves.
    8. Serve hot with rotis or bread and onion kachumbar.
