Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Urad dhal/split black gram dhal
  • 2 - Potatoes, peeled and cut into medium size pieces
  • 2 tsp - Chilly powder
  • 1 tsp - Cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 - Onions chopped
  • 8-10- Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp - Oil.
  • How to Make Urad Dal and Potato Side Dish:

    1. Wash the urad dal and pressure cook with the potatoes, 2 cups water, and 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder until soft.
    2. Heat oil in a pan, saute the onions and curry leaves till golden brown.
    3. Add the cooked urad dal and potatoes, chilly powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, salt and stir well.
    4. Cook for a 2-3 minutes.
    5. Serve as a side dish with rice or rotis.
