Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup - Rice (roasted)
  • 1/4 cup - Urad dal (roasted)
  • 1. 5 cups - Water
  • 1/4 cup - Grated jaggery
  • 1/2 tsp - Cardamom powder
  • 3 tbsp - Gingili oil

How to Make Urad Dal Halwa-Ulundhu Kali

  • Dry roast the rice and urad dal separately until they turn slightly brown.
  • Grind them as a coarse powder.
  • Heat the water to boil, add the jaggery and cook until it melts.
  • Now strain the jaggery syrup and bring it to boil.
  • Slowly start adding the flours and cardamom powder.
  • Stir continuously and take care not to form lumps.
  • Add oil slowly and stir continuously.
  • Cook on a slow fire for a few minutes until they turn a thick paste.
