Ingredients

  • 2 Raw bananas/Vazhakkai
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - Red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - Coriander powder
  • 3 tbsp - Quick cooking oats
  • 1/2 tsp - Urad dal and Mustard seeds
  • 5 Curry leaves
  • Oil
  • Salt

How to Make Vazhakkai (Raw Banana) and Oats Kara Poriyal

  • Peel the skin and chop the raw bananas into small pieces.
  • Cook the chopped raw banana chunks in hot water with turmeric powder until they get half cooked.
  • Strain the water and keep aside.
  • Heat enough oil in a pan, splutter the mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves and add the half cooked raw bananas.
  • Toss gently and add the red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt.
  • Lower heat and stir everything well and cook.
  • Finally add the oats and cook again for few minutes until the oats get cooked.
