  • 2 Raw bananas/Vazhakkai
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - Coriander powder
  • 3 tbsp - quick cooking oats
  • 1/2 tsp - Urad Dal and Mustard Seeds
  • 5 Curry leaves
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • How to Make Vazhakkai (Raw Banana) and Oats Kara Poriyal:

    1. Peel the skin and chop the raw bananas into small pieces.
    2. Cook the chopped raw banana chunks in hot water with turmeric powder until they get half cooked.
    3. Strain the water and keep aside.
    4. Heat enough oil in a pan, splutter the mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves and add the half cooked raw bananas.
    5. Toss gently and add the red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt.
    6. Lower heat and stir everything well and cook.
    7. Finally add the oats and cook again for few minutes until the oats get cooked.
