  • 2 cups - barley flour
  • 1 cup - sugar
  • 1/4 tsp - salt
  • 1 tsp - baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp - baking powder
  • 1/4 cup - unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp - vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup - canola oil
  • 1 tbsp - apple cider vinegar
  • 1cup - cold water

How to Make Vegan Barley Chocolate Cake

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degree F for a few mins.
  • Grease generously the bottom and sides of a round baking pan and line it with parchment paper.
  • Sift together the barley flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, sugar and salt, keep aside.
  • Mix the vanilla extract, canola oil, vinegar, cold water in another bowl and gradually add it to the dry ingredients, don't over mix the batter.
  • Pour this batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 mins or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
  • Cool it completely, remove the parchment paper and slice the cake.
