Ingredients

  • 1 cup - whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup - all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup - sugar
  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp - baking soda
  • 1 tsp - vanilla extract
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1/2 cup - custard powder
  • 1/2 cup - oil (canola or sunflower)
  • 1 cup - yogurt

How to Make Whole Wheat Custard Sponge Cake

  • Sieve the flours, baking powder, baking soda and custard powder together and keep aside in a bowl.
  • Beat the eggs with sugar until the mixture turns pale.
  • Add the oil and yogurt to this mixture and beat well.
  • Now mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix with a spatula.
  • Do not over mix the cake batter.
  • Preheat the oven to 325 F and generously grease a round cake mould.
  • Pour the batter into the mould and bake for 25-30 minutes on the middle rack until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
