Who wouldn't love this lovely, baked Indian bread that is the craze of every foodie? Many search for restaurants only to taste their favourite naan with yummy gravy combos. Now, it is much easier to make it at home and enjoy it right away! Here is an easy recipe for your delicious naan.  

All you need is dry yeast, warm water, whole meal flour, plain white flour and salt. Mix and knead the dough carefully according to the mentioned steps and bake in a hot oven for about 15 minutes. Restaurant style naan is ready to eat and gorge on it wholeheartedly!

Ingredients

  • 1 sachet dry yeast or 2 tsp.
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 3 cups whole meal flour (atta)
  • 32 cups plain white flour
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt
  • Extra oil for shaping
  • Oven temperature : 220 degrees C

How to Make Naan (Baked Tandoori Naan)

  • Dissolve yeast in ¼ cup warm water. Combine flours and salt. Sieve. Reserve 1 cup flour.
  • Add remaining warm water to yeast mixture and pour into centre of flour. Stir a little flour into liquid to thicken it slightly.
  • Cover bowl and leave in a warm place for 10 minutes or until frothy. Blend in remaining flour, in a bowl and mix with the hand for 20 minutes adding reserved flour gradually.
  • Alternately, beat in electric mixer using dough hook for 15 minutes gradually adding as much of the reserved flour as mixture can take. Leave covered in a warm place for 30 minutes to 1 hour till doubled.
  • With oiled hands, divide mixture into 8 equal portions, rolling each into a ball. Pre-heat oven. Take a ball of dough and press into pear shape about 1 cm thick.
  • Work on oiled board with oiled hands. Place loaves on baking sheet.
  • Cover and leave for 15 minutes. Dip forefinger in oil and make 3 parallel grooves, along with the length of bread.
  • Bake on centre shelf of hot oven for 15 mins. Wrap in cloth when done.
