Ingredients

  • Mutton - 1 kg
  • Basmati Rice - 3/4 kg
  • Onion - 8 (Large)
  • Green Chillies - 25
  • Ginger - 50 grams, Garlic - 1 pod (Grind together)
  • Big Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Small Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Cardamom - 4
  • Cloves - 6
  • Cinnamon - 2 pieces
  • Tomato - 3
  • Curd - 1.5 cups
  • Lime - 2
  • Coriander leaves - A bunch
  • Oil
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Akhini

  • Heat oil in pressure cooker.
  • Add garam masala, sliced onions and sliced green chillies.
  • Lightly fry and add all masalas except lime and coriander leaves.
  • Add mutton and cook in cooker for 15 minutes.
  • Then in another vessel, fry rice in oil for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Add rice to cooker with 3 to 4 cups of water.
  • Keep on high pressure for 5 to 7 minutes and lower the pressure and cook it for 10 minutes.
