Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup channa dal
  • 1/2 cup moong dal
  • 1/2 piece of ginger
  • 1/4 grated coconut
  • 4 green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp - sugar
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • 1/2 cup scraped coconut
  • A few curry and coriander leaves
  • Oil as needed
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Amiri khaman

  • Soak the dals for 4-5 hours.
  • Then grind them finely and beat well.
  • Add salt, turmeric, ground ginger and green chillies.
  • Steam the dough as for dhoklas.
  • Then break it into small pieces with fingers.
  • Heat 2 tbsps. oil and fry mustard seeds and cumin seeds, asafoetida, chilli powder and curry leaves.
  • Add the broken dal pieces into it and cook well.
  • When ready, add the sugar and lime juice and remove.
  • Add chopped coriander and ground coconut before serving
