Ingredients

  • 125 g - avalakki
  • 4 - green chillies
  • A handful - peanuts
  • Freshly chopped - coriander leaves
  • A few - curry leaves
  • 1 cup - grated fresh coconut
  • 1 tbsp - channa dal
  • 1 tbsp - urad dal
  • Lime - 1/2
  • 1 tbsp - mustard
  • 1 - onion, finely chopped

How to Make Avalakki Oggrane

  • Heat a kadai with 2 - 3 tbsp of oil, splutter mustard and add channa dal, urad dal.
  • When the dal turns golden brown, add peanuts.
  • Add chopped green chillies, coriander leaves , a pinch of turmeric powder and onions and fry.
  • In a separate vessel, wash the beaten rice well, and drain the water.
  • Add salt and enough water to soak for 2-3 mins.
  • Squeeze to drain out water completely and put the aval into the pan. Mix well.
  • Add lime juice and grated coconut.
  • Close the pan with a lid and turn off the fire after a minute.
  • Serve.
