Ingredients

  • 10 - baby potatoes
  • 1 tsp - rasam powder
  • 3/4 tsp - tamarind paste
  • 2 tsp - jaggery
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard
  • 1/2 tsp -cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - urad dal seeds
  • 1/2 tbsp - red onions
  • 3 sprigs - coriander
  • A pinch - asafoetida and turmeric
  • Salt as per taste.

How to Make Baby Potatoes in Tamarind Sauce

  • Pressure cook baby potatoes in salt and water on medium heat until well cooked and firm.
  • Soak the tamarind in warm water.
  • Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan and temper with cumin, turmeric, hing and urad dal.
  • Add the cooked potatoes and saute well.
  • Add tamarind juice, rasam powder and jaggery.
  • Simmer and cook, covered for about 10 mins.
  • Saute and add salt as required.
  • Garnish with chopped onions, coriander and serve.
