  • 1 - raw banana (preferably the long and thick ones)
  • 2 to 3 tsp - salt
  • 1/4 cup - water
  • Oil for deep frying (coconut oil, preferably)

How to Make Banana Chips

  • Wash and peel the raw banana deep so that the white body shows.
  • Slice the banana into very thin circular slices with a slicer.
  • Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan.
  • Dissolve salt in some water and keep aside.
  • Drop a handful of banana slices into the hot oil.
  • Pour a tsp or two of salt water into the oil. The oil will sizzle a little, therefore, maintain a distance.
  • Keep sauteeing continuously to prevent the slices from sticking and cook well.
  • When the chips turn golden-yellow in colour, remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  • Cool completely and store in airtight containers.
  • For seasoning, you could add some more salt and some pepper powder.
