  • 250 gms - lotus stem
  • 2 medium-sized potatoes
  • 2 tsp - red chili powder
  • 4 - green chilies (finely chopped)
  • 1.5 tsp - mango powder
  • oil for deep frying
  • salt to taste
  • For the Batter:
  • 2 cups - gram flour
  • 1 tsp - red chili powder
  • a pinch of cooking soda
  • sufficient water to make the batter
  • salt to taste

How to Make Bhee Aloo Tikki (Lotus Stem and Potato Pattice)

  • Wash and cut the lotus stem into medium sized pieces.
  • Boil the lotus stem and potatoes, individually.
  • Mash and mix them.
  • Add red chill powder, finely chopped green chilies, mango powder and salt.
  • Make small portions of this mixture. Now make a thick batter by mixing the gram flour with red chili powder, soda, salt and a little water.
  • Dip each portion of the lotus stem-potato mash in the batter and deep fry on a medium flame till golden brown.
