Ingredients

  • 1 cup - black eyed beans (overnight soaking)
  • 2 - medium chopped onion, finely chopped
  • 2 - medium sized ripe tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp - garam masala powder
  • Salt
  • Oil

How to Make Black Eyed Beans Masala

  • Pressure cook the black eyed beans for 3 whistles.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add the cumin seeds and fry until dark.
  • Add the onions and stir fry until golden brown.
  • Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute.
  • Add the tomatoes.
  • Add in the spice powders. Mix well and cook until the onion and tomatoes get blended along with the masala.
  • Tip in the beans, check for salt and allow it to cook for a couple of minutes.
  • Finally garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  • Black eyed beans masala is ready to be served.
