  • 1 cup - chopped bottle gourd
  • 1 big - onion, chopped finely
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin powder
  • 3 - whole dry red chillies
  • 4 or 5 - curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp - oil

How to Make Bottle Gourd Side Dish

  • Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  • When the mustard seeds crackle add the curry leaves, onion and dry red chillies and fry for a few minutes.
  • To this add bottle gourd pieces, chilli powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder and salt.
  • Add a little water and cook covered on slow fire till the bottle gourd turns tender.
  • Serve hot.
