How to Make Broken Wheat Halwa - Lapsi Halwa

  • In a wide pan, heat 1/4 cup of ghee.
  • Add the broken wheat and saute on medium flame for 10-15 minutes or until you get a mild aroma.
  • Add milk and mix well.
  • Add water and mix well.
  • Cook well, mixing the ingredients frequently to avoid burning at the bottom.
  • When the water and milk have almost evaporated, add sugar and mix well.
  • When you feel the preparation is almost done, try moving a spatula through the centre of the pan. You should see a path forming the way the spatula moves.
  • Add 4 tsp of ghee and mix well.
  • Add the cardamom powder and mix well.
  • Transfer to a mildly greased plate and pat well.
  • Garnish with dry fruits.
