  • 1 cup - rice
  • 2 small onions, sliced finely
  • 1 big piece of cinnamon
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 white cardamoms
  • 2 peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp - sugar
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
  • Oil
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Brown rice with onion

  • Soak rice for 1 hour.
  • Mix sugar with 3 tbsp of water and cook on low fire till it is rich brown in colour.
  • Add two cups of water to it and remove from fire.
  • Heat oil and fry the onions till golden in colour. Add the rice and fry for a while.
  • Add the brown sugar water, the rest of the masalas, and salt.
  • Cover and cook on very low heat until soft.
