Ingredients

  • 1 - small size tamarind
  • 1 cup - curry leaves
  • 2 - red chilli
  • 1 tbsp - black pepper
  • Tur dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seed - 1/4 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
  • Mustard - 1/4 tsp
  • Sesame oil - for seasoning
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Curry Leaves Kuzhambu

  • Soak tamarind in hot water, extract the juice and keep aside.
  • Keep a kadai on the stove and pour 1 tbsp of oil. Fry tur dal, red chilli, pepper, cumin seeds and curry leaves.
  • Grind these into a paste.
  • Now heat sesame oil in the same kadai, and splutter mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds.
  • After that add the paste and let it fry. Then add tamarind water, salt and turmeric powder. Let it thicken.
  • Remove from the stove and serve with hot rice and appalam
