Ingredients

  • 1 cup moong dal
  • ½ tsp. each of garam masala and coarsely pounded peppercorns
  • ¼ tsp. turmeric powder
  • Thick milk from half coconut
  • 100 gms. tomatoes
  • 250 gms. ladies fingers (optional)
  • 250 gms. cauliflower florets (optional)

How to Make Dal in Coconut Milk

  • Cook dal in water to which salt and turmeric powder has been added. When soft, mash and pass through a sieve.
  • Put in peeled and pureed tomatoes, coconut milk and peppercorns.
  • Mix well, add the vegetables and cook till they are soft. Sprinkle on top with garam masala and pepper powder.
