Ingredients

  • 1 cup - masoor dhal
  • 3 - onions sliced
  • 3 - tomatoes chopped
  • 1/4 tsp - garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp - ginger paste
  • 1 tsp - pepper power
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • 1 piece - cinnamon
  • 3 - cloves

How to Make Dal Soup

  • Cook the masoor dhal with the 4 cups of water together with the ginger and garlic paste, onion, pepper powder, bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves and salt till soft.
  • Remove and cool well.
  • Grind in a blender and strain through a sieve.
  • Add a little more water if the soup is too thick.
  • Add the butter and serve hot with rolls or croutons.
