Ingredients

  • 1 cup tur dhal
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 large tomato chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 cup tamarind juice extracted from a small ball of tamarind or
  • 2 tsp tamarind paste
  • Salt

How to Make Dhal Pepper Water

  • Cook the tur dhal with 2 cups of water till the dhal is cooked.
  • Add the chilli powder, tomato, cumin powder, pepper powder, garlic paste, turmeric powder, coriander powder, tamarind juice, salt and some more water to the cooked dhal and bring to boil.
  • Cook on low heat for a few more minutes.
  • Season with mustard seeds, curry leaves and crushed garlic.
