Ingredients

  • 1 or 2 - drumsticks
  • 1/4 cup - moong dal
  • 1 tsp - sambar powder
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 - tomato (chopped)
  • 2-3 pinches - asafetida powder
  • salt as needed
  • To grind: 1/2 cup - coconut (grated)
  • 1/4 tsp - rice flour
  • To temper: 1 tsp - mustard
  • 1 tsp - urad dal
  • 1 tsp - cumin
  • 1 sprig - curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp - chopped shallots
  • 2-3 pinches -asafetida
  • 2 tsp - oil

How to Make Drumstick Poricha Kozhambu

  • Cut the drumsticks into long pieces.
  • Boil moong dal with tomato, turmeric, sambar powder. When half done, add the drumstick pieces and salt.
  • Or else, pressure-cook the ingredients (up to 2 whistles).
  • Grind coconut and rice flour with a little water and add to the cooked drumsticks and moong dal mixture and boil.
  • Heat oil and temper with all the items listed. Brown the onions well and mix into the drumstick curry.
  • Serve it with rice.
