Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 - medium potatoes
  • 1 cup - frozen peas
  • 1 cup - tomato sauce or puree
  • 1 tsp each -ginger, garlic, chilli paste
  • 1 tbsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp - haldi
  • 1/2 tsp - garam masala
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp - dry fenugreek leaves
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 5 tbsp - oil
  • 1/2 cup - sour cream or yogurt
  • Pinch of hing
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups - water

How to Make Easy Aloo Matar

  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
  • Add cumin, hing, chilli paste, ginger paste, and garlic paste, and fry for 1 minute.
  • Add tomato sauce and fry for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Add all dry masala except fenugreek leaves. Fry for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Now add potatoes and fry for 1 minute.
  • Add peas and 2 cups of water.
  • Pressure cook on medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes or till 2 whistles.
  • Take the steam out.
  • Open cooker and put on medium heat.
  • Now add sour cream and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Add dry fenugreek leaves, mix well and serve with puri, paratha, or chapati.
