  • 1 cup (140g) - all-purpose flour/maida
  • 3/4 cup (200 g)- sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) -melted butter (or margarine)
  • 1.5 tsp -baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp - baking soda (soda bi-carb)
  • 1 tsp- vanilla essence
  • 1/3 cup (5 tbsp/ 75 ml) - water
  • powdered sugar/ cocoa for dusting (optional)
  • Few - cherries dipped in chocolate (optional)

How to Make Eggless Vanilla Cake

  • Preheat oven to 400F (200C).
  • Sift the flour along with baking powder and soda together in a bowl.
  • In another bowl, mix the condensed milk, butter, vanilla essence along with water. Stir well.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix gently.
  • The batter should be of a dropping consistency.
  • Pour this into a greased 7 inch diameter cake pan.
  • Bake for 10 minutes and then reduce the heat to 300F (150C) and bake for another 15 minutes.
  • This is ready when the cake separates from the sides of the pan, gets a brown tinge.
  • As a further check insert a skewer in the centre of the cake and it should come out dry and clean.
  • Remove from the oven.
  • Let it sit for a few minutes (say about 5 minutes).
  • Place it upside down (so that the bottom faces up) on a plate.
