  • 500 g - Fresh, tender bottle gourd (lauki)
  • 100 g - Almonds, crushed coarsely
  • 600 ml - Milk
  • 1/2 cup - Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp - Cardamom, powdered
  • 10 to 12 strands - Saffron
  • 1 tsp - Ghee.

How to Make Halwa Treat without Guilt

  • Wash and grate the bottle gourd. Then squeeze out the excess water.
  • Add this to a microwave bowl along with 50 ml milk.
  • Microwave on high for 6 minutes.
  • Add almonds and 100 ml milk, now microwave it for 4 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, boil the cooked gourd mixture in a heavy sauce pan.
  • Cook over a medium-low flame, until the milk is fully absorbed.
  • Now add sugar and cook until it melts, stirring gently.
  • Cook until dry.
  • Add cardamom, saffron, ghee and mix well to blend in the flavours.
  • Serve warm or cold.
  • Microwave for 7-8 seconds before serving.
