Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - Split yellow Moong Dal
  • 1/2 cup - Red Lentils ( Masoor daal )
  • 4-5 - Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds, Black Pepper each
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 - Green Chillies, chopped fine
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric
  • Cilantro to garnish
  • 2 - Red dried Chillies

How to Make Lehsuni dal

  • Heat a pressure cooker; throw in minced garlic and dry fry on low flame till it turns brown.
  • Sprinkle water if it gets sticky.
  • Add both dals and 3 cups of water.
  • Pressure cook dal with salt and turmeric for one whistle and turn off the flame.
  • Open when the gas eases off.
  • Heat a pan.
  • When it gets hot, dry roast cumin seeds and dried red chillies.
  • When they get roasted, add the cooked dal and boil.
  • Turn off the flame.
  • Sprinkle with black pepper generously and mix.
  • Garnish with cilantro.
