Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp - sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp - poppy seeds
  • 8 tbsp - scrapped dry coconut
  • 8 tbsp - coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp - cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp - cloves
  • 1/2 tsp - nagkeshar, optional
  • 1 tsp - peppercorns
  • 10 - black cardamoms
  • 8 - bay leaves
  • 1 tsp - oil

How to Make Maharashtrian Kala Masala

  • Roast cloves, peppercorns, cardamom and cinnamon in just a little oil.
  • Dry roast all other ingredients separately and grind all to a fine powder.
  • Store in an air tight container.
