  • 3 cups - moong dal
  • 3 green chillies
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp soda bicarbonate
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • Oil as needed
  • For the garlic chutney, grind to a fine paste:
  • 15 cloves of garlic
  • 4 green chillies
  • 2 red chillies
  • 1 tsp salt
  • A small ball of tamarind

How to Make Moong dal chilla with garlic chutney

  • Soak dal in water for 8 hours.
  • Strain, grind to a paste.
  • Mix with soda bicarbonate, chopped chillies, chilli powder, cumin seeds, asafoetida, turmeric and salt.
  • Grease a tava with oil.
  • Pour a spoonful of the batter and spread it like a dosa. Put ghee around and fry on both sides.
  • Serve with garlic chutney.
