  • 2 cups - rice flour
  • 1/2 cup - maida
  • 1/4 cup - gram flour
  • 3 tbsp - channa dal (soaked in hot water for 30 mins)
  • 1 tbsp - sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp - asafoetida powder
  • 2 tbsp - hot oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for Deep Frying

How to Make Nippattu (Rice Crackers)

  • Mix all the flours in a large bowl, add hot oil, salt, asafoetida powder, chilli powder and mix well.
  • Add soaked channa dal, sesame seeds and knead everything into a soft dough. Make small balls from the dough.
  • Take 2 zip lock bags and grease them with oil on one side each. Place the dough ball in between the greased bags and press it using a poori press.
  • Or press it with hands.
  • Deep Fried the nippattu (prick it with a fork while frying to prevent it from puffing) until they turn golden brown.
