  • 200 gm Basmati Rice
  • 50 gm mixed nuts - Kaju, Badam, Pista
  • 4 Cloves
  • 4-8 black pepper(as per taste)
  • 1 small / medium Onion
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 4-8 Red Chillies (as per taste)
  • Ghee for frying
  • 1 Carrot
  • 6-10 Beans
  • 6 Cardamoms
  • Salt to taste
  • 200 gm Toor Dal
  • 4 Red Chillies
  • 2 Green Chillies
  • 1 tsp Jeera
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 large Tomato
  • Chopped Coriander leaves
  • Oil

How to Make Nut Pulao and Dal

  • Cook rice. Cut beans and carrots to one inch length.
  • Stir fry beans and carrots in ghee and some salt.
  • Cut onions as thin strips and fry well in ghee.
  • Fry the nuts and chillies together.
  • Grind nuts, chillies, cloves and peppers with little water.
  • Mix the nut paste with fried onions. Add this mixture to cooked rice. Add salt to taste.
  • Add bay leaves and cardamom to the rice. Keep it warm till you serve.
  • For Dal:
  • Cook the dal well and keep aside.
  • Fry mustard in oil until it splutters. Add jeera and chopped onions. Fry till onions turn brown. Add chopped tomatoes, green chillies and red chillies. Fry till the tomatoes cook.
  • Add the cooked dal . Cook on medium-high flame for 2 minutes. Lower flame, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
