How to Make Plain Raw Banana Curry

  • In 2 tsps oil, fry the grinding masala in separate batches - starting off with spices and rounding it up with coconut and garlic pod.
  • Take care not to burn the coconut, only cook till it is light brown in colour.
  • Now grind this with the tamarind and a little water to make a thick paste.
  • Peel and cut raw bananas into 1-inch pieces and boil in a little water using turmeric and salt (as per requirement).
  • While the bananas are being cooked, in some oil splutter mustard and urad dal.
  • Add onion, tomato, kadipatta leaves and a pinch of asafoetida powder.
  • Fry till the tomatoes are soft.
  • Now add the ground masala and keep stirring on a low flame till the raw aroma of the masala disappears.
  • Now add the cooked raw bananas and water, as per your consistency requirement.
  • Serve hot with rice.
