  • Samai/Little Millet-1 cup
  • Water-3 cups
  • Oil-2 tsp
  • Mustard-1/2 tsp
  • Urad Dal-1/2 tsp
  • Green Chilli-1
  • Turmeric Powder-1/4 tsp
  • Peanuts-1 tsp
  • Carrot-1
  • Lemon Juice-1 tsp
  • Curry Leaves-a sprig
  • Salt-to taste
  • Coriander leaves-to garnish

How to Make Samai Lemon Bhath

  • Wash the Samai millet well in running water. Strain and keep it aside.
  • In a pan, add oil followed by mustard, channa dal, urad dal and green chillies. Then, add asafoetida and turmeric powder.
  • Add chopped carrots, peanuts and curry leaves. Now, add samai or little millet. Finally, add salt and water and cook till done.
  • Squeeze half a lemon and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with any raita or chips.
