Ingredients

  • Dhaniya - 1 cup
  • Dry coconut - cut into small pieces, 1 cup
  • Red chillies - 1.5 cup
  • Methi - 1/2 tbsp
  • Jeera - 1/2 tbsp
  • Shahjeera- 1/2t tbsp
  • Masala powder- 1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup
  • Cinnamon - 1 small piece
  • Asafoetida-1 tbsp.

How to Make Special Sambar Masala

  • Heat oil in a pan and saute all the ingredients separately, one at a time.
  • Fry the dhaniya, the coconut, red chillies, coriander leaves, shahjeera, methi and cinnamon and keep aside in a plate.
  • Sprinkle the asafoetida on the fried ingredients.
  • Now grind the ingredients with the masala powder into a fine powder.
