  • 1.5 cups - milk
  • 250 g - maida
  • 2-3 tbsp - condensed milk
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 tbsp - butter
  • 2 tsp - dried yeast
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp - jam
  • For coating: 50 g - powdered sugar
  • 1.5 tsp - cinnamon powder

How to Make Sugar Doughnuts

  • Mix 2-3 tbsp of condensed milk and milk together. Warm over a pan of hot water.
  • Blend in the yeast and 2 tbsp of maida. Leave at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes to ferment.
  • Mix salt and the remaining maida together.
  • Add to the fermented yeast mixture along with the beaten egg and melted butter. Mix well.
  • Knead the dough well on a lightly floured table and divide into 12 equal rounds.
  • Cover each with a greased polythene sheet and leave to rise for about 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Remove the polythene. Make a hole in the middle of each round. Fill in 1.5 tsp of jam and pinch into shape again.
  • Deep-fry in medium hot fat.
  • Drain on absorbent paper. Roll in sugar and cinnamon mixture and serve.
