Ingredients

  • 1 cup - raw rice
  • 1 cup - grated jaggery
  • 2 tsp - moong dal
  • 5 tsp - cardamom powder
  • 5 tsp - grated coconut

How to Make Sweet Pidi Kozhukattai

  • Soak rice in water for 30 mins; drain water and grind it to a powder in a mixer. Heat the pan and fry the rice flour till it turns red in colour and keep aside. Dry fry the moong dal in a pan till it gives out a good aroma.
  • Add water to cook the dal and allow it to cook for 5 mins.
  • After 5 mins, add 2 cups of water and add grated jaggery and stir it well till the jaggery dissolves in water.
  • Now add the roasted rice flour and mix it evenly.
  • At last add cardamom powder, grated coconut and stir well.
  • Allow the mixture to cool and then press into desired shapes (or as shown in the picture).
  • Steam cook the dough in an idli maker.
